I have been working intensely in the world of rain gutters for 15 years and have not been excited about a product in a while. That is because there hasn’t been any invention! Options have remained fairly static and homeowners have been buying and looking at the same old gutters for 30+ years.
Then along comes Englert’s RainPro…..as an expert that has been handling and talking rain gutters for over a decade, trust me when I tell you that this product stands out. Let me tell you why…
- First thing you’ll notice is the gutter’s sleek looks. It’s a “box” gutter. It’s the first seamless box type gutter for residential use we’ve seen. Architectural design in modern construction has moved to clean lines, flat trim details versus cornice and crown and the ability to have accessories like a gutter system sort of blend in with the background. This gutter does all of that exceptionally well. The magic of the RainPro gutter profile is that it is the depth of the standard 5″ gutter (nice and low visibility) but has the bottom measurement and flow capabilities of the (over-sized) 6″ gutter. The biggest complaint of the 6″ gutter is that it looks too commercial and cheapens that aesthetic of a home.
- The second thing you’ll see fast is that this gutter is substantial and heavy gauge! It’s consistent and thicker than the sub-par “standard” you’ll see on most homes. It’s a true .032 mill thickness, while I have measured time and again supposed .032 aluminum coil most suppliers sell to gutter contractors that sadly measures under .029. Buyer beware! But not with RainPro. If I handed you a piece of this gutter and a sample of 5″ or 6″ K style gutter, you would understand. Also, we were blown away by the quality of the factory box mitres. Extremely heavy, no cheap factory hems like with standard gutter and even reinforcements at the seams with extra aluminum backing and rivets. The box gutter profile with the hard 90 degree turns makes for a very strong connection between the two sides of a mitre. K style gutter cannot say the same, with its curved. sweeping belly that is an inherent weak point structurally. The 3×4″ over-sized downspouts are an .026 thickness and literally unlike anything you can find on the market. One touch of a sample piece and you’ll understand. The manufacturer Englert touts the RainPro system to be 18.5% thicker than ordinary gutters. That is a serious leg up.
- Another feature I am very fond of is the scratch resistant paint finish. This is Englert’s guaranteed “ScratchGuard” finish and the paint comes in about 10 color options. It takes a beating and also adds to the thickness of the metal. Most gutter coil and downspout has a double baked enamel finish and even when done well, scratches very easily.
That’s it for now. Much more to come on this amazing product. We have been busy installing RainPro systems for 6 months as an exclusive RainPro dealer and our clients are thrilled. It is fun and rewarding to be able to clad amazing homes with truly the best looking and highest performing gutter systems available today.
